This weekend, students from Cascadia Technical Academy joined students from around Clark County to compete in SkillsUSA Competitions, to test and show off their skills! SkillsUSA, along with FBLA, DECA and HOSA provide students with the opportunity to compete, meet students from around the region, network with local employers and gain the confidence needed to start their careers!

Tourism is the fourth largest industry in Washington State, generating over $21 billion annually. The large world maps in the Hospitality and Tourism classroom are a go-to educational resource as students hone their knowledge of worldwide travel. This program prepares them for entry-level workforce positions with hotels, restaurants, caterers, event managers and transportations companies. Students do internships with related fields and can earn Certified Room Division Specialist credentials from the American Hotel Lodging Association, as well as air travel and world travel certifications.

Business Principles students are exploring how to source their required Cascadia Tech Business program uniforms. In the process, they are being exposed to a broad range of job categories, including design, supply chain and inventory management. Business students intern at a variety of local companies, including banks, hotels, government and other corporate offices, where they build their communication, project management and team building skills that are needed to successfully enter the work force.
